BVA Community,

For those of you who are unaware, Boston Virtual ARTCC hosts regional events once every one or two weeks. These events are normally Regional Circuits, Challenges, Pack the Patterns, or General Aviation Fly-In events. These events allow pilots and controllers alike to experience a more unique night of packed airspace featuring smaller or less-utilized airports. Currently, these events are always from the 8-11 pm ET (5-8 pm Pacific). I would like to start a discussion within the community regarding the time of these events, and if people would prefer to see a change in these times.

Please respond to the poll (above) and, if you would like to go into more detail, provide a more detailed write up or opinion here in this thread. Moving the event earlier to 7-10pm ET will make the burden on East Coast controllers less; 11pm on a weeknight is late for a lot of students and people within the workforce who need to wake up early in the morning for school/work. However, the events starting at 4pm Pacific time would make it hard for people on the West Coast to participate in these regularly as it would cause a conflict with work/school, at least for the first hour. A 7pm ET start time could also be challenging for some controllers from the East Coast.

We would like the community’s input on the subject, and thank you for taking the time to consider this change and provide your feedback.

Split the difference, maybe?  730p-1030p Eastern?

Would rather start at 7pm, which is more reasonable for most people to fly a complete circuit instead of only doing one leg and signing off due to the later time. Some of us tend to control past the end time anyway, so we can continue to control past 10 if there is demand for it.
